Mental Health 101: What to Know and Where to Go
In property management, staff are on the front lines interacting with residents regarding a host of issues that occur every day. In many cases, the only people interacting with a resident on a daily basis are property staff.
This presentation will cover the signs, symptoms, and prevalence of serious mental illness including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, and post traumatic stress disorder as well as different resources that can be shared with tenants.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the basic signs and symptoms of untreated mental illness.
- Understand what a mental health crisis is and what to do when a tenant is in a mental health crisis.
- Gain knowledge on different resources for those individuals and families that are suffering due to mental illness.

Kelli Jensen joined the NAMI Indiana team in September 2024 as the Justice Director, where she oversees the statewide Crisis Intervention Teams technical assistance center, provides education and outreach regarding mental health, the justice system, and consultation on community strategic planning. Kelli has been in the mental health field for over 15 years, providing mental health treatment, education, consultation, and support across the child welfare, juvenile justice, and criminal justice systems. She is currently on the executive committee for the Marion County Systems of Care Council. Additionally, she serves on multiple public policy committees to ensure that Indiana is providing the best possible infrastructure for those with severe mental illness. She received her bachelor’s degree from Purdue University and is working on her MBA in healthcare administration at Western Governors University. She enjoys traveling, hanging out with her niece and nephews, and spoiling her golden retriever, Max.
