Dealing with Indoor Air Quality as a Property Manager
Learning Objectives:
- Discuss air quality in buildings as it relates to the health and comfort of building occupants and why IAQ (Indoor Air Quality) is important to building owners and Property Managers.
- Learn about the difference between "Sick Building Syndrome" and the "Building Related Illness" and their associated symptoms.
- Learn about effects that ventilation, humidity, temperature have on IAQ in addition to chemical contaminants from on-site sources (i.e. adhesives, carpeting, manufactured wood products, cleaning products, pesticides, gases, and vapor intrusion).
- Learn proactive and best management approaches that building owners and Property Managers can take to better manage IAQ in buildings and IAQ complaints.

Aaron Manka
Aaron Manka serves as the Senior Manager for Building Science (asbestos, mold, lead, indoor air quality) Services at August Mack Environmental. In this capacity, Aaron is often involved in scoping, performing and managing complex asbestos survey projects for large facilities and providing quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) review on building science projects. Aaron was selected to the IU Health project team based on his extensive experience over the course of his 18-year career dealing with asbestos, lead based paint and mold in hospitals and commercial buildings.
