IAA: Merrillville is the Local Advisory Council of the Indiana Apartment Association that serves the greater Merrillville Indiana area.

The purpose of IAA: Merrillville is to promote, advise, and protect the general interest of the construction, ownership, and management of multi-family housing by engaging and uniting industry members through informative and engaging educational and networking events.

EPA/CFC Certification Testing

Section 608 of the Federal Clean Air Act requires persons who work with regulated refrigerants to become certified. Enroll in this course to comply with regulations essential for supporting your apartment community.

This course includes four sections for the first time test takers and second time test takers in your community:

Section 1 reviews environmental issues surrounding the impact of Class I and II refrigerants

Section 2 covers the test and instruction for systems with less than 5 pounds of refrigerant (Type I certification)

Section 3 includes the test and instruction for high pressure refrigerant such as HCFC 22 including split-system air conditioners (Type II certification)

Section 4 contains the test and instruction for systems that use a low pressure refrigerant such as CFC11 (Type III certification)

Re-Testing Requirement: You are required to bring proof of your previous scores to the re-test. You may re-test three times before instruction is required.

Registration Details: Shortly after registering for the exam we will mail you an exam booklet. Please review this booklet in advance of the course.

About the Instructor: David Creek, Director of Maintenance with Birge & Held Asset Management, LLC has more than 33 years in the apartment industry. He brings exceptional experience and insights into this course to engage and motivate participants inside and outside the classroom.

Attend this course to learn the psychology behind the needs and desires of different generations looking for housing, particularly Generation Z. With this next wave of renters, how do you market effectively and who is actually the buyer? This course will teach you how to adapt techniques to accommodate and reach both parent and student.

About the Instructor: Katrina Greene, CAM started in the industry in 2001 as a temporary leasing associate, and is now a Senior Property Manager for Sheehan Property Management. Katrina currently oversees a portfolio of 3,500+ units which includes student housing, conventional, retail, and Section 8 communities. She is the 2018 YPM Committee Chairperson, and has been a guest speaker in courses at Ball State in the RPM program.
